sakai.cooks 🇹🇷 in Istanbul! For the first time, I will be cooking in this city that is so so dear to me and it couldn’t be a in a more perfect setting:
Casa Cooklife is a lifestyle and community space that embraces the slow living culture, inspired by the Japandi aestethics🌱 - a calm and inspiring oasis spread over 400 sqm in the heart of the buzzing Bomonti area.
On Saturday, Nov 16th we invite you for a once in a lifetime experience. A menu inspired by my favourite Turkish dishes with influences from Brazilian-Japanese cuisines, paired with exquisite local drinks and enjoyed over communal tables, where strangers come together to break bread and cultural boundaries through the universal language that is food.

mindful meal Oct 24 | Amsterdam
Having recently returned from a retreat in a Buddhist monastery. I’m nourished by the practices of mindfulness, slow living and the delicious temple food that I enjoyed over the past week - and I can’t wait to share it with you. In this evening, I will bring in some mindfulness practices and rituals that revolve around food while we enjoy a meal in community. No experience in meditation is required, in fact this is a great opportunity to get in contact with the practice in a light way.
I will create a menu inspired in Buddhist temple food and use the opportunity to share with you a few ingredients that I brought from the monastery grounds, in my luggage. Expect a heart-warming, 3-4 course meal with very little/no animal produce, paired with wine or tea (for non alcoholic).
The event will start at 7pm and end at 10pm promptly. It’s okay to arrive a bit late, but we might need to start without you. Location will be shared upon booking confirmation.
day cafe & events Aug 1-20 | Amsterdam
Together with some friends, sakai.cooks will have its own space for our community to hangout this summer! We are taking over the space of our friends at Hannah’s restaurant in Amsterdam West [August.1 until August.20].
It will be a cafe during the day with a simple, short, seasonal menu. And on some special occasions, we will host the classic sakai.cooks events. But mostly it is an extension of our living room, a welcoming space to come together and meet like-minded people.

Gubi Gubi anniversary July 6 | Amsterdam
Join us in celebrating our friends from Gubi Gubi!
Gubi Gubi is the first and only importer in Europe specialising in Japanese wines. I personally amd a big fan of their wines, and I’m guilty of gifting many of my friends bottles from them.
Expect a Brazilian-Japanese fusion dinner, paired with four of their unique Japanese natural wines and the usual easy-going atmosphere to connect with like-minded people.

sakai.cooks - cook.club june 20 | Amsterdam
If you love cooking, chances are your love language is acts of service. Cooking is great, but being able to share your creation with others is even better. On this evening, I invite those that are drawn to the kitchen to come together and share a dish, a recipe, a tradition, a memory that is meaningful to them. As each tale unfolds, the group learns about different cultures, traditions, tips, tricks and tales from the kitchen.

Coming from Brazil @mathewemerick joins me for a very special colab feast in Amsterdam. Mathe worked in world renowned kitchens before opening his own restaurant called Ludum, in my hometown island. One of a kind restaurant, and his cooking will sure leave an impression on you.
I can’t wait to cook together an exciting Brazilian-Japanese menu, in an intimate event, on beautiful venue that much feels like someone’s living room.

Breathing, tasting and cooking in Japan for the first time, join us in this very special experience as we explore the intersection between Brazilian and Japanese worlds, in a culinary journey. Brazilian ingredients brought directly from the source to celebrate the local Japanese product, nearing its peak as spring arrives. Did I mention it’s Sakura season?
The event will take place in Namba, the cultural hub of Osaka. and Co- is a small izakaya located on the edge of the town. “We opened and Co- as our side project, next to our carrer, with the aim of creating a community space where people from various backgrounds can gather” says Toshi, the founder who originally worked as clerical staff member at the national university. “Seeking excitement and enrichment in life, I decided to become a chef”.
